Size Enlargement
GranulatorsÂ
The size enlargement technique of granulation has been explored previously, using a variety of granulators, such as the Cyclomix, ExtrudoMix, ModuloMix (Hosokawa Micron B.V.) and the Nica M6 (GEA), in both batch and continuous operations. Each of these can be employed at a variety of throughputs and impeller speeds to control the final granule output.
ElectrocoalescerÂ
The operating principle of an electrocoalescer involves the application of electrostatic fields to destabilise and separate water-in-oil dispersions. The setup features two brass electrodes – one connected to a positive, high voltage, DC source, whilst the other is grounded. The emulsion is then directly added to the electrode connected to the voltage source, where the electric field strength can be varied by adjusting the position of the electrode.
