Tina Bonakdar

About Me
Tina Bonakdar is a Research Fellow of Chemical Engineering at the University of Leeds. Her research focuses primarily on particle characterisation, size reduction, particle breakage and related processes, using state of the art experimental techniques and computational approaches, such as the Discrete Element Method (DEM). She graduated from Sharif University of Technology in Iran with a BEng Honours degree in Chemical Engineering. In 2012 she obtained an MSc in Process Engineering from the University of Surrey. She completed her PhD “Attrition of Spray-Dried Powders” under supervision of Mojtaba Ghadiri at the University of Leeds, sponsored by Procter and Gamble. In 2015, she won the Young Researcher of the Year Award at the UK Particle Technology Forum. Her research is focused on the milling behaviour of pharmaceutical powders. This project is part of the Advanced Digital Design of Pharmaceutical Therapeutics (ADDoPT) project, in collaboration with AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, BRITEST, Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC),GlaxoSmithKline, Perceptive Engineering, Pfizer, Process Systems Enterprise (PSE) and the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s (SFTC) Hartree Centre together with the Universities of Cambridge and Strathclyde. In this part of the programme, predictive modelling of particle size reduction based on material science of fracture will be developed.Research Interests
